Thanksgiving high school football schedule

LOWELL — Eleven Thanksgiving football games involving area teams are on tap for Wednesday and Thursday.

The schedule is headlined by a meeting between longtime rivals Billerica and Chelmsford. The neighboring towns began playing in 1927 and their meeting this week will be their 97th.

This year’s special game will be held at an historic site. Instead of being hosted in Chelmsford or Billerica, Wednesday’s battle will be played at Fenway Park in Boston.

Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.

Three other games are scheduled for Wednesday.

Lowell Catholic will host Greater Lowell Tech at 6 p.m. at Chelmsford High, Nashoba Tech will entertain Monty Tech at 6 p.m., and Dracut/Innovation will travel to Methuen for a 6:30 p.m. game.

Thursday’s traditional Thanksgiving Day schedule consists of seven games.

Six of the games have 10 a.m. kickoffs – Ayer Shirley at Littleton, Tewksbury at Wilmington, Tyngsboro at Groton-Dunstable (at Lawrence Academy in Groton), Westford Academy at Acton-Boxboro, North Middlesex at Manchester/Essex and Haverhill at Lowell.

Shawsheen Tech will lock horns with host Arlington Catholic at 10:15 a.m.

Shawsheen Tech and Tewksbury will attempt to rebound after losing state semifinal games last weekend.
